This has been the most anxiety-making stage of the trip - fitness not-withstanding!
Dealing with the local operators to get transport from El Calafate to Puerto Natales was one thing (not every operator answers their emails). And then organising the 'W-Trek' through the Torres del Paine National Park from refugio to refugio was a very frustrating exercise at times, involving multiple emails & a Skype call to the office in Chile.
THAT was a funny episode - done at midnight months ago back home (due to time zone differences) - the phone was answered by someone obviously concerned what to do with a caller speaking English; I asked for Patrizia & could hear the footsteps running across the office floor (obviously wooden as they tend to be in South America) & we quickly dealt more successfully over the phone with what I think up till then had been getting partly "lost in translation" in the emails.
Anyway, even thereafter, when having some difficulties, I managed to continue to correspond with Patrizia politely & without showing my frustration (too much!) & she continued (mostly) to sign off with "Hugs, Patty". While that continued, I hoped that all would work out and trusted that I was "in" with half a chance.
So I'll let you know. Hasta la vista (for now)!!!
